Counter Score of a Mass (Anatomy of Obstruction series)

Governments, corporations, and bureaucracies can seem distant and hard to trust. Yet they shape our everyday lives. I reimagine these abstract and imposed systems as parts of a human body – soft, intimate, and alive. Inspired by anatomical illustrations and organizational diagrams, I explore the overlap between organisms and organizations. In the series Anatomy of Obstruction, stony façade and fleshy interior merge into one another. The organs become metaphors for institutional systems of filtration, regulation and legitimation, while bodily disorders like reflux, gallstone, and constipation turn into resistance and dissent. What belongs to the body and what is treated as foreign? Is the system external, or are we part of it?
