Love, Bobbi is an ongoing project by Bobbi Essers: a series of unique letters containing drawings, sketches, mementos and text from the artist, to you.
Love, Bobbi #4 includes one postcard, a letter of four A5 pages, an old Eye Filmmuseum ticket, and more. The letter, written in Dutch, discusses religion, atheism and Satanism, living in Amsterdam and seeing Albert Serra at the Eye Filmmuseum, and more.
Bobbi Essers works mainly within the medium of painting, evoking a sense of intimacy and emotional connection and offering privileged glimpses into fleeting moments shared within her friend group. By focusing on portraying those closest to her, Essers captures an experience uniquely personal and yet broadly universal – the enchantment of friendship.
For the viewer, the familiarity of these portrayals contains a hint of voyeurism: Essers transports her viewers through time and space, immersing them in a vivid tapestry of nostalgia.
